Just want to say, that I am happy with the progress on the course in Jefferson Park. If anyone would like to come out and donate some time, money or supplies; please send me an email, I will get you hooked up with the right people!!! They are working on the course even as we speak!

Hope to see a few more members join next year! Hope to see a nice turnout for our annual Ice Bowl.  Click here for The High Country Disc Golf Club website and forum.

The first meeting of the High Country Disc Golf Club was held at Coyote Kitchen on June 26th.  I took a few photos of it:

The meeting was the first step in establishing a disc golf presence here in the High Country.  We picked officers, discussed our financial outlook, enjoyed beer and food and chips.
Coyote Kitchen is and remains a proud sponsor of the High Country Disc Golf Club and the High Country Disc Golf Park!
Please come out for our weekly thursday random double tourneys, starting at 5:45pm.  It is $4 for club members, $5 for non-club members and an additional $1 for the ace pool.  Currently we are close to $70 dollars and growing.
It is alot of fun, regardless of your skill level.  We do have several disc golfers who carpool from Boone each week, email me to find out how to be a part of that!

Team Coyote Disc Golf

My goal is to sponsor a group of disc golfers who want to give as much as they get to disc golf.  The sponsored members will be players who demonstrate their passion for the growth of the sport.  A player will gain sponsorship based upon their performance and mostly on what they give back.  Players who donate time to the course, or donate time before and during tournaments will be considered before a player who just plays in or on them.
A sponsored player will receive:
 1.  a dri-fit Polo with the Team Coyote Disc Golf logo.
2. Entry paid into several PDGA tournaments
3.  Ride to and from the PDGA tournaments.
4. Lodging provided for the PDGA tournaments.

Disc Golf in The High Country!!!

I was introduced to disc golf in 2001, and since then have been in love.
I decided to "tag along" with a few friends one day and became instantly hooked.  We played 18 holes at the Glenn C. Hilton course in Hickory; once we were done, I forced the guys to drive to Dicks sporting goods and purchased my first set of discs.  I had no idea what I was in for.
Since that day, I have dedicated my free time to the game; when I couldn't participate due to a bad back, I decided that I would help promote and support the game anyway I could.  Coyote is currently sponsoring the High Country Disc Golf Park in Ashe County, though our hole has not been built yet...  The course director, Todd Patoprsty, has worked his butt off to get the course built.  He is working with Harold Duvall, who is a world renown designer of disc golf courses, including the number one course in the country at Winthrop, SC.  Harold believes that this course will be a championship course and should host some very big tournaments.  I know that Coyote and all the sponsors hope that Todd and Harold's vision becomes reality.
Disc golf is not only a great way to get low impact exercise and release stress, it is also a great way to become involved with your community.  Disc Golf gives back every single year.  The Ice Bowl is just one of many charitable tournaments within the disc golf community.  The Ashe County Park hosted their very first Ice Bowl this winter and raised over $900 for charity.  You can read all about the Ice Bowl hereYou can also read other articles about the ashe county disc golf here. Here is an article by a friend of mine when I was just beginning to love the sport.
The course in Ashe County still needs sponsors and always needs volunteers.  If you would like to be either, or if you would like to join the High Country Disc Golf club, please email thecoyotekitchen@gmail.com with disc golf in the subject line.  Please come out and join us for disc golf doubles every thursday at 5:30pm.

Thanks...
